Amanda Emms is a writer and organizer who lives and works in West Broadway. Her first apartment in the neighbourhood was on Furby. 

Anna has been a renter in West Broadway for about 15 years. She has been involved with the Good Food Club, the West Broadway Tenants Committee, Art City, and the former Deer Spirit and Spirit Park community gardens.

She cares deeply for the neighbourhood and for preserving it as an affordable vibrant place for ALL our neighbours. She has over a decade of experience in non-profit social service and community development sectors.

Her current work is running the Adult Literacy Program at the John Howard Society of Manitoba. She has skills in the realm of policy, research, project management, facilitation, leadership, and communications.

Linda is a community development and mental health social worker. Her experience in the housing sector goes back to her days in university; while living in Manitoba Housing she was also the President of the Tenants’ Association.

Linda has worked for the City’s Planning Department, authored Tenants’ Handbooks, held workshops for inner-city tenants, and chaired the Winnipeg Housing Coalition. In West Broadway, she developed the Broadway Neighborhood Centre, West Broadway Neighborhood Housing Resource Centre, The Tenant Landlord Cooperation (TLC) program, and Odd Jobs for Youth.

In addition, she helped develop the Old Grace Coop and her name is on a stone in the ground to this day!

Kelly is the Executive Director of the WBCO and has been a resident of the West Broadway neighbourhood for nearly 19 years.

Scott is a Senior Research Associate at the IUS at the University of Winnipeg, where he has spent the last 15 years studying housing and housing policy. His work has focused on supporting the homeless-serving sector, investigating evictions and eviction-prevention, and discrimination in housing across Canada.

Jessica is a member of the Winnipeg Urban First Nations community and Treaty 5. She was born and raised in Winnipeg’s North End.

Her work experience is in healthcare and housing, including property management. Jessica’s father was a caretaker for low-income housing which has informed her experience working in private sector housing.

Jessica ran for Mayor of Winnipeg in 2022. Affordable housing was central to her platform.

She brings lived experience of housing challenges alongside practical knowledge of property and healthcare management, and is eager to contribute that perspective to the nonprofit sector.

Michael is a supporter Member of the West Broadway Community Land Trust. He is a resident of Wolseley, just a few blocks outside West Broadway.

Michael has a master’s degree in history and is particularly interested in the history of Winnipeg’s urban development. He has worked in the local heritage sector and at museums for the past few years.

Michael sits on both the Governance Committee and Business Committee. In the fall of 2026, he will start a Master of City Planning degree. He plans to integrate experience within the WBCLT and City Planning program to better inform his perspective on both planning and land trust affairs.

Maggie is an accountant and has experience working in professional practice and community organizing. She has served as treasurer for two organizations; the Trans Solidarity Tuesday Group and the University of Manitoba student chapter of the Association of Canadian Archivists.

Although she is new to the housing sector, Maggie is committed to the WBCLTs goal of decommodifying housing. She has a clear understanding of the role of a treasurer. As Maggie puts it, “I use numbers for good”.

Stefan first brought the idea of a Community Land Trust in West Broadway to the WBCO board in 2023, and since then has been the driving force behind the initiative. For the past three years, he has split his time as the WBCO’s Housing Director and the WBCLT Coordinator. Through this work, he has learned just how integral community is to stewarding land, and what it means to build good and trusting relationships with those lands.

He facilitated the planning phase of the organization, from the initial community visioning sessions to day-to-day operations. He hopes to continue on in a supportive role in years to come.

Robyn has been involved with the WBCLT since the summer of 2024, when she began her practicum at the WBCO. Since then, she has been involved in various ways; tabling at community events, organizing a banner build at Art City, and sitting on three standing committees.

Robyn is going into her second year of a Master’s of City Planning at the University of Manitoba and was thrilled to join the WBCLT team earlier this spring. Her work has included developing a Member’s Guide (coming soon!), AGM planning, and various administrative and research tasks.
